Joshua Keener Softball Head Coach, Community Recreation Coordinator
Biography
Josh Keener took over the Braves softball program Aug. 10, 2023, after spending six years as a head softball coach at the NCAA Division III level.
He led the University of Dubuque softball team for one season and the Rockford University softball program for five seasons. Before his head softball coaching positions, he spent seven seasons as an assistant baseball coach at both the NCAA Division III and NJCAA levels.
Under Keener’s direction, the Rockford softball program saw tremendous improvement over each of his first four seasons. In his final two seasons, the Regents won more games (39) than in the four years combined (29) just prior to him taking over.
In 2021, the Regents softball program earned its first berth to the NACC Tournament in school history and also recorded the first NACC Tournament win in program history. The softball program also set numerous school records during the 2021 season, including home runs in a season and stolen bases in a season.
Prior to Rockford University, Keener spent two seasons at Rock Valley College as an assistant baseball coach.
